There's nothing quite like an escape to a spa to treat yourself and your body to a little summer ‘me' time and despite the fact that we're all keeping our pennies safe down deep in our pockets, it doesn't have to be an overly expensive pampering trip.This year was the third year for the Irish Tatler Spa Awards, which highlighted some of the best spa destinations in the country including the best therapist, treatments, style and service. So I thought I'd take a peek at what the best offers were at some of the winning spas and find out how we can indulge ourselves without breaking the bank!

Where: The Health Spa at Radisson Blu Farnham Estate
Why: This four-star resort in Co. Cavan was awarded for it's outstanding spa facilities when it was chosen as the Best Hotel Spa for 2011. The Health Spa consists of 19 treatment rooms and covers over 2000 square feet.
Watch out for: the half-day pamper package for €95 which includes four hours of relaxation time as well as a 30 minute face or body treatment and a choice of a dry floatation, hydrotherapy bath or a serial mud chamber.

Where: Monart Destination Spa
Why: Chosen by Condé Nast as one of the top three spas of the world, it's no wonder Irish Tatler chose the Wexford Spa as their Best Destination Spa.
Watch out for: The Friday Feeling Special for €80. Get a real taste for this world renowned spa by visiting the extensive thermal facilities followed by a luxurious treatment of a specialised facial, body wrap or Swedish massage and then relax in one of the spas relaxation rooms.

Where: Lyrath Estate and Spa
Why: Irish Tatler chose this Kilkenny Resort as Best Facial, for it's Kerstin Florian Antioxidant Vitamin C Facial.
Watch out for: Girls Allowed Saturday. For just €165 pp, you can enjoy a 1 night midweek break with friends, to relax and catch up with afternoon tea on arrival, followed by a traditional Oriental meal at the Yindee's Restaurant. You can then settle in to a private screening of your favourite movie with popcorn and champagne, and a chance to experience the hydrotherapy pool, tropical showers and relaxation room at the Oasis Spa the following morning.

Where: ESPA at the g Hotel
Why: The Spa at the Philip Treacey-designed g Hotel in Galway was chosen as a hot favourite by Irish Tatler, highlighting the Chakra Balancing Treatment with Hot Stones for the overall Best Body Treatment award.
Watch out for: The Diva Detox for €95. This sensual ritual is said to leave you feeling renewed and uplifted with a detox and revitalisation in the thermal suite, full body skin brushing and exfoliation, a full body wrap with aromatherapy oils and a calming oriental scalp massage. Divas will also be treated to a healthy ‘smoothie' in the relaxation area and a complimentary travel size ESPA detoxifying salt scrub at the end of their pampering day.

Where: Island Spa at Inchydoney Lodge and Spa
Why: The Island Spa picked up the award for Best Treatment, after the judges discovered the Sunshine Experience treatment launched just last year.
Watch out for: The specialised treatment is unique to the West Cork Spa Resort with a lemon, orange and lychee body scrub followed by a nourishing orange and apricot body wrap. A Shiatsu pressure point scalp massage is then performed to relieve stress and the treatment concludes with lemon and orange oil applied to pressure points for relaxation. The winning treatment lasts for 60 minutes and costs €99, and includes access to all the spa facilities including a seawater pool and heated rooms.

Where: Wellness Spa at Castlemartyr Resort
Why: The five star Cork resort picked up the Best Style award for it's natural meadows and perfect backdrop to the 24,400 ft wellness, spa and fitness centre. With floor to ceiling glass and natural wood, the spa brings the natural beauty of the outside into the spa experience and is complimented by its contemporary and elegant design and facilities.
Watch out for: The Afternoon Indulgence Package: For just €65, indulge yourself in one of the following treatments; back, neck and shoulder massage, a Cryo Leg Wrap, Hydra Express Facial or a Les Luneides Chocolate, Grape or Green Tea Wrap. Package also includes full use of the Spa facilities and afternoon tea.

Where: Spa Salveo at Knockranny House Hotel
Why: Irish Tatler fans voted this Spa, located in Westport, Co. Mayo as their ‘Reader's Choice' Best Spa at the awards.
Watch out for: To honour their recent award, Spa Salveo have introduced a new ‘Irish Tatler' package offering guests the chance to have a 1 night stay with Bed and Breakfast, as well as complimentary cream tea and dinner, as well as two and a half hours of luxurious spa treatments including an invigorating Body Polish using Turkish Salt Scrub, an aromatherapy back, neck and shoulder massage, a Kerstin Florian facial with a brightening eye treatment and a choice of either a deluxe foot treatment or an Aroma Hand Treatment. The package is all just from €193 and also offers complimentary access to the Vitality Pool and Thermal Suites.
