With the royal wedding approaching fast, not a day goes by without someone somewhere writing about Kate Middleton but although I'll admit I'm a tad jealous that she gets to officially call herself a Princess (and a real one at that), I'm more envious of her hair than her tiara, if that's possible!

And since Cats Hair Salon in Dublin is in full agreement with me, they have put together a prize worth over a massive €500, where you could win a pampering day worthy of a Princess, and be treated to a Kate Middleton makeover!!
"There is a lot more thought put into Kate Middleton's hair than you would think", Aoife Bradley, one of Cats top stylists told me. "It's a simple look but they are the hardest to achieve. Her hair is done first thing in the morning and has to withstand a lot during the day so an unbelievable amount of prep work is put into it."
The Princess Look

With only a couple of weeks before Kate becomes an official member of the Royal Family, Kate needs to dress in a certain way, but it's important to her that she keeps some of her own personality in the makeup she wears and her hairstyles too. "Her hair is about volume without looking less than classy. She's above the WAG look, she couldn't go around with the typical backcombed tight curl look, her style is much classier, simple yet beautiful and that look is one of the hardest to achieve so it's so important that she has the right stylist looking after her hair. Her hair compliments her and who she is", said Aoife.
The condition of Kate's hair is the most important factor to keeping her hair looking as great as it does, and according to Aoife, her hair is trimmed regularly, preventing split ends from working their way up the hair. "It's easy to get your hair looking as healthy and shiny as Kate Middleton's, once you stick with the right products and regular cutting" Aoife explained.
"At Cats, we supply the information and knowledge to look after your hair at home and in the right way. Trying not to use hair straighteners too much and keeping the hairdryer a safe distance from your hair as well as using heat protection products all contribute to helping your hair stay healthy and the condition is the most important part of it."
Taking Aoife's wise words into account, it seems it's all about using the right products. "Her stylist is so important and everything is extremely thought out."
The Products

L'Oreal Professionel Tecni art Anti-frizz hairspray offers anti static protection, 24 hour anti-frizz protection as well as enhancing shine and offering UV filters and no residue. Kate's stylist would only use the best products and by using this Force 4 stronghold hairspray on Kate's finished styles, it ensures that no matter how much wind and bad weather she encounters, it can only look more beautiful as the day goes on.

Tecni art Volume Architect Thickening Blow Dry Lotion is used for giving Kate's hair volume from root to tip. It can be used not just for fine and fragile hair but to give thicker hair the volume needed to maintain a blow dry and it allows styles to be worked and reworked throughout the day, which for Kate's busy schedule is really important.

L'Oreal Texture Expert Expansion Mousse doubles the size of hair follicles and by layering this product with the volume architect, the cocktail of both layers the hair and gives it extra hold but with flexibility, so even when it's exposed to all the elements, it still looks amazing!
The Prize
The lucky winner will be brought into Cats Hair Salon, located next to the Westbury Hotel just off Grafton Street and will be treated to a deep conditioning treatment, a rich and shiny gloss colour, a hair cut and style and a makeover by a make up artist who will be brought in on the day.
The stylists at Cats will work to get the Kate Middleton look as close as possible for the winner, who will also get some hair products to try out at home!
So if you fancy treating your luscious locks to some princess pampering at a top salon in Dublin, or perhaps have a big occasion coming up in the summer, make sure you enter!
To be in with a chance, simply email your name and contact details to info@catshairsalon.ie with ‘Kate Middleton Competition' in the subject line before Thursday 28th April. The winner will be chosen on the date of the Royal Wedding (Friday 29th April) and will be contacted.
